Dr Nicholas Caldwell is a freelance web developer, specialising in software architecture, applications programming, and technical trouble-shooting. He is also a freelance writer and editor in his spare time.

Previously he was a post-doctoral Research Associate with the Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge. He remains a research collaborator with the Scientific Imaging Group and the Computer Vision and Robotics Group of the Machine Intelligence Laboratory in the fields of electron microscopy, applied artificial intelligence, e-learning, and web-based technologies.

He is a Fellow of the Royal Microscopical Society, a Member of the British Computer Society, a Chartered IT Professional, and a Chartered Engineer.
